i want opinions on guitar brands and which you think are best, cuz rite nao im renting and my mother wants to know a good brand to get, so i need ur help. post ur opinions here :)

I use a Yamaha. I also have a fender stratoscaster. The Yamaha is cheaper and more lightweight. The stratocaster is friggin' expensive and is really heavy. Fender specialises in guitar, so it's better you get one. If you're lookin' for a cl*censored*ical one, I can't really help you there. I use a weirdo crap cl*censored*ical that I got for 50 bucks. But brands don't really matter, I use a crap guitar and I still sound really good anyways. If you're trying guitar for the first time, just get a cheap one. It's not really the quality of the instrument, it's you that makes it sound good.

i take a guitar cla ss and we use yamaha's my mother wants to get me a good one idk why but i guess she wants it to last longer ( which is a requirement for my clumsyness heheh) ... but i do like yamaha guitars they are very light weight.:)

I like Les Paul guitars.  But it probaby isn't ideal if you want a lightweight guitar.  But they do sound good.
