All the threads going around recently and a sporadic impulse has led me to decide that I need new music.
I'm extremely picky with some things, and I'm not so picky with other things.
For a general idea I've been listening to a lot of Kings of Leon, Defiance Ohio, Stars, Grouplove, Mumford And Sons, MGMT, The Naked and Famous and, Coldplay recently. I also went ahead and downloaded the Japanese and English Broadway Lion King soundtracks, as well as the soundtrack from Thoroughly Modern Millie. There's also a techno-esque remix of the My Little Pony theme on my iTunes (just don't ask). I absolutely love Dubstep, both original tracks and remixes.
As for English music; I'm extremely picky. I'm not much into the pop/Hip hop scene (though I do have a bit of Nicki Minaj on my iTunes) and I'm not much into modern rock/alternative/punk. There are a few alternative-esque bands I like (30 Seconds To Mars, Incubus, The Used, Matchbox 20, Escape the Fate, From First To Last, Greeley Estates (occasionally, though I have to be in the mood for the last three.) To be honest, your best shot for music in English would be Indie, folk, folk-punk, electronica, or stuff like Imogen Heap, Florence And The Machine, Adele, or Regina Spektor.
Foreign music gives a much better shot; I adore Jrock, Jpop, Krock, Kpop, etc. For Jrock Dir en Grey and D'espairsRay will forever have my heart, and for Kpop, I've been listening to a lot of Brown Eyed Girls, SHINee, Super Junior, 4 minute, and Girls Generation.
And I love, love, love songs with amazing lyrics.
So, yeah. Try your luck if you'd like.
