So today in Math, we had this pretty big test. We were suppose to do it by ourselves, but I took pity on the guy across from me (Marcus) and we became "secret partners". One of the problems involved turtles, and there was a cute little picture of a painted turtle in the corner. I say, "oh, how cute! I love turtles!" Marcus responds, "hey, I have a turtle. Do you want it?" Of course, like any other 15 year old obsessed with turtles, I nodded quickly. So, we devised a plan. (NOT during math xD) In a few weeks he's going to bring me the turtle, then pass it to me right before school starts, I shall put it in one of the teachers room, (I've asked), then when I get home I shall put it in my tank. Sound like a good plan?

I KNOW. :D

 No it's a horrible plan...SHUDUP.

Sona, be sure you're ready for a turtle in your life. Sure, they may be cheap to buy, but can you care for it for about 30-50 years? Can you pay for the equipment? What do your parents think?
A turtle stuffed into your bag does not sound good. I'd advise you to get a small cardboard box it can sit in comfortably, line it with either towels or newspapers and do NOT seal it. Make it completely dark and it would most likely sleep by the time you are home.
Please get the tank ready before you welcome it home - it is already scared enough of moving, it doesn't need a bunch of humans sticking into it's home.

Whoa whoa whoa. You're gonna put a turtle in your bag? D: I've never owned one or done this before but I'm pretty positive it's a risky decision. It'll be stuck in there throughout the day until you take him or her home. Don't you think that's gonna be a bit terrifying for a turtle? How squashed or dehydrated or hungry will it get? I wouldn't recommend this for any kind of animal, whether it's a cat or a dog or. A pony (were it possible). Or whatever.

Plus you sure you can't do it over the weekend, when it'll be quieter and calmer compared to a schoolday? Think of the turtle, not your own desires to have it as a pet.

...That was not ever intended to actually happen. I am getting a turtle, but I asked one of my teachers if I can put it in his room, not my bag. I can take care of him, I don't approve of you saying I haven't done my research, thank you. Also, I never said I was going to steal it, it will be  completely legal.

Sona, you can't really blame them for being concerned for the turtle when all you've said is the turtle is going to be put in a backpack, passed to you before school, wait most likely in another backpack for seven-eight hours, then taken home.

You also didn't mention anything other than a tank, or what his parents or your parents thought of the ruse. Most likely they wouldn't approve of you bringing a live animal to school.

also it doesn't help when you use the word 'smuggling' for something legal o3o it's very confusing.

Lol this is an interesting story it made me giggle. I agree the bag sounds on the risky side... Really amusing and fun to like deviously discuss turtle smuggling but agreed probably a bad idea lol. Have you considered asking marcus if you and your parent might be able to just piick him up after school?

You didnt mention what kind of turtle btw but some carry a significant risk of selmonella and some states even have laws about keeping them as pets... Im not suggesting you not get said turtle but make sure to figure out what kind and what risks he brings particularly if you have anyone elderly or particularly young in your house :) good luck on your turtle adventure!

Someone brought a bunny to school to give their friend as a gift. No secrets, all the teachers and students knew. He stayed in his cage in the common room for most of the day though. All of the IB (senior) students loved him, he's a very friendly rabbit. I see no problem with bringing the turtle to school (if he/she is staying in that room you mentioned). So it's okay if your parents agree to let you keep it ;D

Yes, smuggle wasn't a smart word, but it's a fun word. ;D It's completely legal to own turtles in Washington, Petco has a whole bunch for sale and such.

'Tis fine :) I hope I didn't come across as too pompous or up myself earlier xD It's just, I know that some people are daft enough to try a stunt like that. Since I hardly know you, I wasn't sure whether you were one of those people or not. Plus I dislike the mistreatment of animals in general, however well-intended it is. It was all in concern :3

And a lot of alarm xD

I remember when I brought my two frogs home from school. I knew a while ahead of time, but I spent a whole week worrying about their transportation. I do hope this goes well for everyone, especially the turtle. I hope he/she finds a good home with you!
