Haha no, that's not dumb at all~ There was an event not too long ago involving a Comet Festival on Scria. As part of the festival, you could find silver star dust whilst exploring, and exchange those for starglass urns. Filling an urn with the dust created an item that you could use to stardust any pet from Scria.
The current cash shop carries gold stardust urns that will work for any pet!
Oh and if you participated in the event quest, you also had the opportunity to take each of your pets to see the comet and, among other random effects, your pet could become dusted :D
