Hello!

Long time no see everyone. ^.^ I am hosting a little art contest. I don't exactly know what I'm thinking buuuuuut. I have an idea so with this idea I would like you guys to create a character design via a picture of a mermaid.

I have a picture I'm trying to base this female mermaid off of, but other than that its up to your own creative design. <3 I am kind of making an animal into a mermaid of the human variety. Please do not just re-draw the picture!!!

I know it is technically a pet mermaid but I want a human like mermaid!

I want to keep the colors from the pet into the mermaid along with a few of the pet qualities like the dots along the tail. You may change up the tail if you want to. I'm not a big fan of the 'normal' mermaid tail. So the more creative the better. I was thinking along the lines of maybe somehow incorporating the spine on her back somehow into the tail? Not really sure at all. lol. I do know that I want the ears the same fin like structures. The eyes are key though. She uses her gaze and beauty to lure people so the eyes have to have that...look ya know? lol. I don't know how to explain it.

So a little in background of this character. She's a mermaid of course but she lives in a lake. She loves to meet passing travelers who take to her lake to swim or bathe in after a long journey through the woods. She lures the people further into the lake wanting to 'play' with them. Once their in the middle of the lake she disappears under water and pulls them down. She ultimatly drowns the people but once they are on the brink of death she kisses them (male or female) and turns them to stone, forever keeping their stone figure at the bottom of her lake. From there she has thousands of stone statues down there from her thousands of victims. She does this because she can never die thus she is lonely and wants someone to be around at all times. This is her way of making friends. Turning every human she see's to stone and keeping them in a statue like graveyard at the bottom of her lake.

SO ultimately, that's the inspiration. So yes. You have free artistic design when it comes to this character. I just want it to stick with the qualities of the picture up there. This creature is supposed to be based off that picture just more elegant and human like mermaid. lol. Not pet like mermaid creature thing.

2. No art theft please. I don't want to see something I can find on Dev. art. :/
