The moon hangs low in the sky as its glow bathes everything in an ethereal glow. The leaves of The Mother tree shuffle gently as a small breeze glides through the air.
It’s a peaceful night, you think as you relax underneath the tree and watch the stars that have gathered in the darkened sky.
You know, it’s said that each day brings along with it a great surprise. For example, your current presence has brought me great surprise. I never thought I’d live to see the day where Rescreatians returned to this place.
You snort a little at the smooth voice reverberating in your mind, and you look to your side to see Ink sitting along one of the tree’s large roots.
Their eyes are squared on the stars above and they look to be concentrated on a single spot.
You smirk at their concentration and make a joke hoping to lighten the mood. They laugh at your silliness and return your joke with one of their own. However, before you two could get even deeper into your pun war, the sky alights with a blue light.
Ink stands from their spot immediately and runs out into the field in front of The Mother Tree. Confused, you run after them and question why they are running.
The blue light igniting the sky deepens to a dark purple, and you tilt your head up to see a ball of fire racing through the clouds towards the ground. It's speeding towards the direction Ink is running in and you huff at the crazy floxes sense of self-preservation.
The heat of the fireball grazes your skin and you yelp as the flames zip past you and crash into the middle of the field.
Surprisingly Ink had stopped just a few feet where the ball had landed and you have to skid yourself to keep from tripping over them.
It’s been quite a while since I’ve encountered new surprises one after another. It seems your presence is finally getting a hold of the others!
Ink wags their tail happily as the flames surrounding the ball start to diminish.
You question them in hopes of receiving clarification, but as the final flames snuff out you finally realize what they meant.
