So.  I'm considering taking up art commissions here on Res again (I use to do them a long, long time ago...).  However, I do have a few concerns before I make my decision, and I thought I'd run it by you guys since, well, you'll hopefully be the ones commissioning me!

First off, I'm really concerned about time.  I already work 40hrs a week, plus I do actual commissions for real money.  I also only have a month or so of summer left, so if I start commissions on here...well, I won't be able to do very many. I'm talking maybe 3-5 total, which is basically nothing.

Secondly, I have no idea how much to charge.  Really.  I'm trying to make enough tu to be able to afford a Liyure egg, or creatu, depending on what's cheaper.  I do have some tu saved, but I still need a lot more.  (Then again, I don't want to rip people off, either.)

I guess my question for you guys is this: do you think it would be worth the time and effort to do commissions?  And if so, how much would you hypothetically spend on my art?

Examples of my art include the picture of my Iluvu above and the one on my profile.  I've also got a deviantART page (greyoculus.deviantart.com) and a website (www.corolynholubart.com) for those who are interested.  Granted, the commissions I'll do here will only be digital, and only creatu.  I also don't do anime.  Just thought I'd mention that.

Any and all (useful) feedback appreciated! C:

hmm... Shao thinks that people here would LOVE your art to pieces and pay even up to 10mil+ for a piece (going of the quality of your banner) it's really up to you if you think you could manage to do a handful of orders in your time frame. A suggestion from Shao would be, opening at a time where you know you're going to be free, say a three day weekend or something. Shao doesn't know how long it usually takes you to do a commission, so Shao can't help you TOO much there. As for the prices in itself, price what you find harder, higher. Of course sketches and lineart will cost less than flat colored pieces, and shaded pieces more than that and so on. Another way to do it is if you want to put up an auction. This way you can sometimes get more TU than you would with set prices. So yeah ^^ Shao'd commission you but XD Shao is commissioning a profile graphics set <3 *excited*

Good luck Synth =D

Shao--Oh wow.  Honestly, if I found someone who would pay that much for my work, I would certainly open commissions on a weekend or two, haha.  I do spend a good bit of time on my art, just because I'm a perfectionist like that, but what is this about an auction?  I've never heard of commissions done like that, would you mind explaining it to me?  Also, congrats on your graphics set, sounds awesome. If I could afford it, I would easily pay 10 Mil for the banner above, if I had any longing for it o.o It's a beautiful peice, and your Deviant shows many more! Easily worth the tu, and if you can find a frame of time good for you, maybe an hour after/before work that you can work on commissions, I'd say you'd be good!

I reall would like to commission you, but I don't have the tu ;u;'

lawl thankies Synth <3 well for a commission auction... you would have a set up similar to this:

~~~
Introduction: Hi I'm Synth and I'm auctioning off # amount of commission slots
examples of my work-
Rules: if you want any, put em' here
Slot #: you'd repeat this for however many slots you wanna auction
SB- starting bid, just like it sounds, the first bidder will bid this amount
HB- highest bid, whatever it may be
AB- sometimes you make one when saving for goals and such. if you want to make a certain amount of this piece of work, put an auto buy.
MI- minimum increments, some people put this, others don't. this is how much you want the price to go up each bid in the least
~~~

this is what Shao understands anyways ^^, sorry if it's a little bit of a basic explanation. Shao wasn't sure which parts you'd understand already and which you wouldn't. It's the main idea though. You can add other things, bits and pieces, as you wish. Any questions?

Sheta--Thanks for the feedback!  I'm not sure what I'll end up charging, but that is a concern of mine--finding someone who would be willing to pay for the art.  I totally understand your reason though, after all, it's why I don't commission people either. =P

 Shao--Actually, that does seem rather simple, which I consider a good thing.  I might end up doing an auction, since I'm only going to do a limited number in a short amount of time.  Thanks for explaining it!  I'll let you go, question-free.
