(I'm just experimenting c:)
As Cloaked returns to the edge of the forest he turns to look down on his little pal, Festus. Would he, Cloaked, get burned if he tried to touch him? Hesitating for a moment, Cloaked poked Festus, waiting to see if he would get burned.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RikatheFallen has Activated a Curse!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kio has Received the Curse of the Haunted!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As the concerned visitor takes the gift from Cloaked and uses it on her book, it hisses and spouts around suddenly, then implodes after glowing brightly and releasing a bubbly black smoke. The bright green venom simmers and melts through the book entirely. The pages melt and contort while the cover burns in a strange violet fire. The smoke rises and surrounds Kio in a suffocating thick la
yer. The book's remains begin to take the form of a melted skull-like image...then drips onto the ground in a puddle of horrifying goo, swirling with glowing greens and purples.
Kio screeches and beats his wings, driving away the smoke. He hisses and puffs up, flying out of the smoke and into Rika's arms. He shakes nervously and hisses in fear, though after a short time realizes he feels fine, and was just spooked. As you look down, you notice something different.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kio has Contracted a Rune Tap!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I t would appear that your pet has taken on some sort of glowing runes...they are burned into his flesh and when touched, they leave a black sooty mark on your fingers. Kio still adores his master, but now hisses wildly at others who approach him and puffs up with a threatening display...beating his wings and chomping his teeth while his eyes narrow into slits. When idle, Kio often stares into the distance and chitters to himself with a glazed look in his eyes. Your companion has been exposed to a sudden alteration. His appearance may change over time. Keep watch over him, visitor. He remains loyal to you and only you.
Your book has been destroyed.

Sona turned the piece of paper over in her hand, deciding what to do. Rika's Barebat had gotten sick... but this paper was from a different book. She decided to take the risk and read the slip of paper, fearing that her Barebat would become sick. |

Doctor, when you say catch, did you mean you want to adopt one? The swarm has been defeated so things cannot be caught any longer. Just making sure I understood.

Sona - Rika received a different page. However, ALL items have multiple possibilities. If someone else receives Rika's page that she got, it may not affect their companion the same way. Plus, most affects are not ccaused directly by one ob
ject. it is through a series. Her actions with the book, her choice of the book, and what she did with the book in the end were all contributors to Rika's pet's current status.
Curses, I can tell you, are considered negative because they usually affect the companion's personality. Sometimes negative affects can come from them as far as bad luck ( your odds are decreased for looting and other things ) but the actual visual affects are considered negative because they are often monstrous or evil looking. Blessings will alter them with stuff that may look a bit more peaceful or saintly.

As the visitor cautiously places a hand into the flames surrounding his companion, he feels a gentle breeze surround his hand. As he lifts it from the flames, it remains in his hand for a short period of time, then recedes. It would appear that your fiery companion cannot harm you.
When you met your companion, you shared your blessing. Although it has now faded and been absorbed completely by your companion, you still share the bond within you. Festus chitters and looks up at you, not having noticed your advances, and smiles, nuzzling against your leg again, sending a rush of warmth through you.

Rika consoles her frightened Barebat and is surprised to see the glowing runes on his face. She reaches out to touch them and is surprised to see the soot in her fingers when she pulls her hand back. That was...honestly amazing. "It doesn't hurt, does it?" she asked the large bat in her arms as she looked down at him, stroking his head.

Holidays - please specify if you would prefer a specific gender, or settle with a randomly selected one. Please give your companion a name too, before I post. If you decide to settle with a random gender, you can pick the name after I have posted.
I received TU for the adoption, sorry I am just responding a bit slowly.
KittyKat - I recieved the TU. Same thing as Holidays, please specify a name and gender, unless you want a random gender. :>

Doctor has Adopted Orisis--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Doctor approaches the corral and seems to have her eye upon a peculiar dark pelted creature...The smokey male keeps a fair distance, though appears concerned, being able to sense that this visitor may have had her eyes on another of his kin. He lowers his ears against his head and slowly waddles over, putting his head below Doctor's hand, forcing her to pat him. He looks toward you and chitters, curling his tail to the side. He hopes he has pleased his new master, and can live up to expectations. This BareBat appears to have a very determined personality. |

It takes notice of Holidays right away and flutters over gracefully, even showing off by landing on the tip of her toes, keeping her tail upright. She seems to have a mind for poise and balance. The little female stretches her wings and coos, while keeping her eyes locked on yours, then bolts into the air, doing a swift upward spin, then lowers and hovers in front of you for a moment before swooping down closer, touching her nose to yours, and letting out a shrill delighted cry, then playfully zips around you in the air. |

Rika hugs tightly to her beloved BareBat, who returns the embrace. Kio shakes his head assuringly when hearing his owner's concerns, though his eyes seem a bit glazed over and milky-white. He chitters and purrs in his throat and clings to you.
As you hug him you notice something...his skin feels colder...even clammy. Though Kio appears to be acting fine around you at least. His runes glow a little brighter for a moment.
