Doctor's Encounters

As the curious visitor, Doctor, finishes her net and approaches the Swarm, she comes face to face with a lovely olive-winged BareBat. It swirls in the air and stretches its wings, shrieking and hissing while gnashing its jaws together. As the last remaining stronger creature of the group, it felt the need to defend itself as much as it could. Though this brave little creature of the Acid Swamps was no match for Doctor's excellent aim and highly efficient net. As it wrapped around its body, it struggled and attempted to bite through the net with its fangs. As it panicked and gnawed away, one of its fangs becomes embedded in the net, which was now slightly damaged.

As the BareBat landed hard upon the earth, its tail's barb chipped, letting a piece of cracked shell from it fall upon the ground beside where the creature writhed around.

Soon, the BareBat tires itself, and Mangodile rushes over, taking it to be tamed in the corral.

Your net has taken some damage during this encounter ( level 8 ), but you have access to some loot! Will you attempt to take the Cracked Barb, the Fang, or both?

Sonador's Encounters

Sonador comes back with a vengeance at this trickster of a BareBat, and with one final, triumphant toss of a visitor's net, she captures the last of the group. Her net receives no damage, and the beast falls to the ground with no struggle.

Soon, the BareBat tires itself, and Mangodile rushes over, taking it to be tamed in the corral.

Your net has avoided damages, but you have found no loot.

Congratulations! The Swarm Has Been Stopped!

Good job, visitors! Our portal here at The Great Tree has been saved from these ravenous creatures from the Acid Swamps portal! Everyone has decided to capture these beasts, so you will find all of them available in the corral, aside from the special BareBat that has bonded with Cloaked. I will make a specific post for the corral shortly that will give the adoption prices and such.

I send my sincerest apologies to those of you who have built a net and attempted to capture beasts, but were not able to. However, don't fret. New events will be available like this in the future, and some can even be triggered by your discoveries with your books! If you want more events, remember to interact with your items daily! You won't know til you try!

All of your items you have obtained through this event are yours to keep. If you are currently equipped with a net, PLEASE remember and make a note for yourself. If another swarm occurs, you will not need to find a net if you already have one in your inventory.

If you have obtained loot of any kind ( some of you still need to make actions to collect loot. you will know if you received it successfully once you make your attempt post, and I roll for your success rate ), it is yours to keep as well, and you may test these items out daily with various actions as well. If you buy a companion today, you may have even more available options, such as attempting to feed an item to your pet, interacting with it with them, showing them your book if you have one, etc. Just keep in mind not to god mod or make out of place objects appear out of thin air.

Quick question, can you buy a Barebat that someone else caught? I feel like I read something about that somewhere, but there's just so much to remember.

Cloaked's Discovery II

Mangodile trots over as the Swarm has dwindled and is easier to handle. He is confident the visitors will be able to handle the rest by themselves while he tends to Cloaked and this curiously tamed creature beside the visitor. Mangodile props himself up onto his chubby back legs and taps his thick tail as he stares in deep thought. Soon, he presses his paw to the BareBat's head, then snatches it back, shaking it furiously side to side while after letting out a sharp hiss of pain, then a loud yelp. He licks his paw for a moment and then snaps his fingers in an 'Aha' gesture.

"I say, Cloaked, this creature seems to have reacted to some sort of Blessing. This rune here doesn't look like it originated in this portal...I'm afraid I can't read it or recreate it, but I can tell you this. It's HOT. Oh and uh, in case you're wondering, this BareBat appears to be a male. Maybe you can give it a name? I don't think it's going anywhere. "

He chuckles in a jolly manner, then looks back at the creature. The Rune was definitely not native to this portal, but maybe another portal will have more information, or a better understanding of it.

As Mangodile studies the BareBat and tries to figure out its strange behavior, the BareBat seems to be getting used to its changes...now blowing smoke from its mouth into smoke rings just for fun, and rubbing its wings all over its body, enjoying the warmth its own anatomy was creating. Suddenly, the rune on top of its head glows brighter, pulsing its light from dim to bright. At first the pulsing was slow, then it began to speed up. The BareBat's eyes begin to glow with a golden light, just as before. It turns its head up to Cloaked, lets out a soft little shriek, and then stretches out its wings, and bolts straight into the sky!

You and Mangodile stare into the sky as the BareBat shoots up like a rocket, then flies right in the middle of the sky, making his body block out the sun slightly and become a shadowed figure. It hovers there for a moment, and then suddenly shrieks incredibly loudly.

The BareBat's form lights up even brighter than before, blinding those both you and Mangodile as you have been staring at the strangely acting creature. As you rub your eyes and regain full sight from such a blinding light, you hear what sounds like a roar of wind, or perhaps even fire, accompanying the beating of leathery wings. When you open your eyes, your BareBat is perched upon a rock in front of you, though it is almost unrecognizable.

Its wings are flowing with a mystic fire, as are its ears and tail. Its eyes are a beautiful golden ember color, and the skin, mane, and markings of the beast have all turned to a warmer hue. The BareBat seems to smile, then chirp delightfully. The rune on its forehead shines very brightly, then soon fades as if being absorbed into the creature's skin.

As the Swarm has subsided, and all things have calmed down, Mangodile summons the visitors to follow him. He leads you to a large area behind the main auction platforms, where the now tamed and sated BareBats are flying around and perched on top of fences, chittering and shrieking whilst entertaining themselves. Some of them start to fly over and swoop down playfully towards the group of visitors, while others wait patiently perched on the fence posts.

These creatures have calmed down, and they seem to like you all. If any of you would like one, you may pay to adopt one of them and they will accompany you on your journey through all of the portals of The Vale. They can help you during events...they can interact with you and even have special unique things happen to them. Perhaps you can find out more of what the different creatures of The Vale are capable of over time.

You may want to claim one that you may have captured during the swarm, but please remember that it is first come first serve, and you may not be able to get the one you had your heart set on.

You may choose a gender for your creature, or let the generator decide. You must let me know if you'd like it to be randomized. After it is decided, it cannot be changed. You must name your BareBat once you receive it.

When you have a creature, new opportunities will open up to you. You may interact with your companion when using your daily items, and sometimes your companion will provide a bonus in success rates. Your companion and you can share Blessings if you manage to find one, and sometimes special things will happen to your creature to alter their appearance.

Creatures can help you in big events, just like the one we just encountered. You can order them to attempt to do something, or have them act as your 'weapon' if you choose to fight. Just like this past event, your pets still have chances to fail, and they even have a chance to die, so be careful. However, if your creature does die, there's a chance to salvage a piece of their original magic essence, which can be used to possibly revive your pet at a later time, or summon a completely new one, or many other possibilities. Only time will tell.

(I may edit this later, but I'm a bit tired and am just trying to keep up and be on track before Wednesday when my classes start. I'll answer any questions I can as soon as I can. Please read these guidelines thoroughly, though, as I try to make it so that most questions can be answered here. )

You pick one of the BareBats from the group. As you call it to you, he screeches and flies up into the air, doing three flips with half turns, before hovering in front of you and landing. He chitters and thenn waddles forward, opening his wings and wrapping them around your leg, giving it a nuzzle with his cheek.

You choose a darker skinned BareBat that was sitting upon the fence. As you call it to you, he tilts his head and cautiously hovers over to you. Being one of the smaller creatures of the group, ( though still large enough to be rather heavy when he does this ) he lands upon your head, planting his feet on either of your shoulders and lying his belly on the top of your head. He shrieks loudly and in broken outbursts that almost sounds like laughing.

Thank you so much, Cloaked. I was really proud of myself with the art of the affect. I know you must be excited you have a unique BareBat now, but I must say, I can't wait til someone manages to spark the affect again, even though its the rarest haha. However, in the future, there iwll be an opportunity to find out how to do this with a little bit of a higher chance. The affect just looks beautiful. I was actually getting jealous, lol. Though that book has a few other potential blessings and affects that may happen that people need to find out. With that being said....

Today is a new day. Those of you who have bought books, please remember to interact with them! Especially if you have a companion now, you may be able to find other affects when you interact with your books or items WITH your pet.

If you do not have a book yet, you may purchase one from the front page of this thread, just look at your options! You may only purchase one, though.

If you looted any items during the Swarm, you can use those too to do something!

You may only interact with an item once per day, but remember to do it everyday! It is the key to unlocking more discoveries!

Sona grins as her new companion does a series of tricks in the air before landing beside her. She beams in excitement as the Barebat trots over and seemingly takes to her, wrapping his leathery wings around her leg. She smiles slightly and pats the white bat-creature on the head lightly.

As the visitor, now accompanied by a playful little BareBat, opens the book and studies it, a dust cloud lifts from the old musty pages as she turns them. The BareBat looks down and tilts his head side to side while Rika traces the various runes and pictures with her finger. As your fingers graze over the ink, suddenly a violet faint glow forms under your fingers as they touch the runes. Kio chitters and shrieks, leaping from his perch to the ground in front of you. He hisses and latches his teeth onto the corner of your page and pulls, tearing a piece from it. Looks like something spooked him...

Your book has received some damages, though you can try to retrieve the torn page from your companion. Will you attempt to get it back?
