Normal User Posts: 1,191	welcome to my spooky scary tarot thread if you don't want to learn the fascinating history of tarot go to the second post i guess A short explanation on cartomancy cartomancy, or divination via cards, dates back to medieval era: specifically, the creation of the printing press. when the printing press was created, the common folk were able to have card decks, which were previously pretty much nobles-only considering each card for each deck had to be hand made. so the tarot deck was originally a game played in pubs to gamble--think medieval poker. then some fortunetellers came along and were like "guys holy crap we could use this!" and thus tarot was created. the first tarot deck was the tarot of marseilles, which included two sets to each deck: the Major Arcana, which were numbered 0-22 and had card art depicting what became known as "The Fool's Journey" (not important). The rest of the cards were what you see in a regular card deck today, called the Minor Arcana with the suites being wands, cups, swords, and pentacles. each card was assigned a meaning, although they had no card art, merely "pips"--think, again, playing cards. tarot for a longlonglonglong time was pretty unknown except for small circles because a) the cards were ugly, b) there was no set meanings, and c) no one really knew it even existed. then this dude commissioned an artist in the early 1900s, Pamala Colman-Smith, to draw a set of 78 fully illustrated cards, which would later become known as The Rider-Waite Tarot. they never paid Colman-Smith, and she died homeless and poor in the gutter, so I call it The Colman-Smith Tarot. Fast forward several decades, and here we are, with hundreds of different tarot decks in all styles and interpretations available for intrepid diviners. Normal User Posts: 1,191	okay so here's what tarot cards do: answer questions you have, or give advice technically tell the future but i dont like doing that so nah *what tarot cards dont* do: commune with satan (without specifically aiming for this) invite spooky spirits into your house to possess you like every other horror movie (without specifically aiming for this) literally anything any religion says about tarot is wrong. how tarot cards work: tap into the subconscious to give an answer to what you already know how tarot cards dont work: signing a soul with satan asking demons what color ur crush's panties are or whatever anything any religion told you. seriously y'all it's propaganda what i can do for you I'm doing tarot reading commissions. Pay what you feel they're worth. where you come in Ask my cards a question. It can be any question at all, with two exceptions. it cannot be a yes or no question, and it cannot focus on another person. examples: "Will I get the job I want?" is not allowed. "How can I increase my chances to get the job I want?" is allowed. "Is my partner cheating on me?" is not allowed. "I need to talk to my partner about something important; how can I best approach it?" is allowed. this is a for-tips service. Pay what you feel the reading was worth, there's no set price.
