Hobart “Hobie” Brown serves as the Spider-Man of Earth-138. He’s highly anti authority and anarchistic. He’s also a talented musician, using his music in both activism and battle alike. He’s also incredibly intelligent, easily replicating Miguel’s tech for his own purposes. Above all else, he takes care of those close to him, in and out of the suit.
I can’t even begin to explain how quickly and completely Hobie took over my life. The moment he came on screen, I was instantly obsessed. Big ol’ happy stims and the cheesiest grin on my face. In all honesty I find it very hard to put the feelings into words: overwhelming joy, safety, acceptance. I’ve spent most of the months since seeing the movie absolutely immersed in it, and Hobie’s definitely at the center of it. ATSV has been a really fun hyperfixation, yeah, but Hobie’s been a huge comfort through a lot of rough patches and also helped me learn to love myself a little more each and every day. It was only fitting that such an important character be represented by such an important pet - owning a black Shaefu was a childhood dream of mine, finally achieved years later.
