Below are verified excerpts, taken from Sin's Sketchbook, on the appearance and habits of various planetary Kageruut variants.
Kageruut Networks
Description: a quickly drawn sketch of the forest floor, showing multiple mature Kageruut whose roots are inter-connected to each other and to the roots of trees in their vicinity.
The caption reads: The Kageruut uses this network to share resources and communicate. It can divert nutrients from older and more prosperous plants, to younger plants which may be struggling. Larger trees are often more integral to Kageruut networks, forming connections between many individuals. If this `hub tree` is destroyed, the network is highly damaged.
Reiflem Kageruut Life Cycle Stage - Baby
Description: An amorphous shadow-like creature with large yellow eyes, hides within a small flame. The flame flickers constantly and roots appear to be growing from its base. A Ferocactus with a bright flower grows from the shadow creature`s head.
The caption reads: Baby Kageruut of the Reiflem variant are more often found in the volcanic regions.
Though the Kageruut`s flame container imitates a real fire, it is not at all hot to the touch. These Kageruut often display behaviour which may seem aggressive due to the harsh environment in which they live.
Reiflem Kageruut Life Cycle Stage - Teen
Description: An amorphous shadow-like creature with large, yellow eyes, peeks out from the inside of a hollow, charred log. Fresh roots appear to be growing from the log. An immature Yucca plant grows from the shadow creature`s head.
The caption reads: Teen Reiflem Kageruut prefer to make their homes in the sparse wooded areas still left on the planet.
Though they cope well in both heat and drought, they seek out areas away from direct sunlight.
Relcore Kageruut Lifestage - Baby
Description: A small amorphous shadow-like creature with large, yellow eyes hides in a cardboard box. Small roots protrude from holes in the box. A spiky thistle grows from the shadow creature`s head.
The caption reads: Baby Kageruut of the Relcore variant seem to prefer places which are dim and slightly damp.
Though the container looks like a standard cardboard box, it does not seem to be affected by the weather.
Relcore Kageruut Lifestage - Teen
Description: An amorphous shadow-like creature sits in an old shoe. Small roots seem to be poking out from holes in the shoe. A bright daisy grows jauntily from the shadow creature`s head.
The caption reads: Teen Kageruut of the Relcore variant have most commonly been found in areas populated by humans. It seems they enjoy forming their containers from discarded footwear and will often embellish their creations with complex patterns and colours.
Scria Kageruut Life Cycle Stage - Baby
Description: A small, amorphous shadow-like creature clings to the stem of an overly large, fluffy, dandelion clock. Odd-looking roots grow from the bottom of the stem.
The caption reads: Baby Scrian variants of the Kageruut have been observed floating in the skies upon dandelion clocks.
They do not appear to follow the laws of gravity?
Baby Kageruut appear to be extremely shy and do not often show themselves to humans.
Scria Kageruut Life Cycle Stage - Teen
Description: An amorphous shadow-like creature sits atop a large, old maple leaf. Roots appear to be wiggling out from the leaf`s stem. A helicopter seed pod grows from the shadow-creature`s head.
The caption reads: Teen Scrian Kageruut often form small colonies and can sometimes be seen forming spectacular aerial displays in some of the more remote areas of Scria.
It is postulated that the Maple seed allows them a greater degree of aerodynamic freedom to perform these complex dances.
